If you were unable to read the text in the stamp, it says:

"I hope hope you realize; the adorable puggle you purcahsed from a breeder/store; is a mutt; the same kind of dog that'll be gassed at the local shelter"

I'm quite infuriated from browsing the site, the domesticated animal photography section, after coming across a few photos of what dimwits like to call "Puggles", a so-called "hybrid" or "designer breed", otherwise, a mutt. I even came across someone who called a "Puggle" a purebred.

I know I've made a couple of stamps like this before. This one is rather sloppy, but I don't care. As long as it gets the point across.

Puggles are mutts, mixbreeds, curs, they're mongrels. Mutts are widely available through shelters, rescue organizations, dog pounds, and local ads in the paper where dog owners need to rehome their pet due to unfortunate circumstances.

Because a Puggle is a mutt, it is highly unpredictable, there is no telling what you will get when you take on a mix breed. There is no guarantee on color, coat, shape, size, weight, height, energy level, temperament - mutts are unpredictable in every aspect possible. When you get a purebred, a quality specimen of the breed, you get predictability - if you have studied the breed, you will know exactly what you're getting into.

Now, there is nothing wrong with wanting a mutt; but there is a lot wrong with purposely breeding to get a mutt, breeding mutts, purchasing a certain mutt because it has label ("Puggle", "Pomapoo", "Labradoodle", etc), and calling these mutts by that label. This label slapped on these mix breeds is a marketing ploy to get you to buy! These labels are made up by irresponsible breeders, to encourage you to buy their puppies, which encourages more irresponsible breeding. Supply and demand.

A Puggle, like every other cross between two or more breeds, is not a hybrid. A hybrid would be the offspring of a wolf and a domesticated dog, a coyote and a domesticated dog, a dingo and a domesticated dog - a zebra and a horse, a domesticated cat and a serval, a horse and a donkey, etc. A domesticated dog and a domesticated dog is just another domesticated dog - not a hybrid.

If you have purchases a "hybrid" or a "purebred Puggle", you got ripped off and lied to. ;P

Image Source: The image used in this stamp is of a Puggle, a Pug x Beagle mix, located at my local dog pound and is available for adoption. If not adopted in time, this Puggle will be thrown into the gas chamber.

This is not the first Puggle that I have seen at my local pound, and it most certainly will not be the last. Not only are Puggles flowing into this pound, but Cockapoos, Shihpoos, etc, are not at all uncommon either. Seeing as I am merely stating the facts of my local pound, which are quite dreadful, this does absolutely no justice for each dog pound and animal shelter in the entire nation.

I cannot forget to mention, despite the fact that mutts are easily available through adoption, at least 25%of all shelter/homeless dogs are purebreds.
